Helen Louise (Francis) Ledbetter, age 93, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday August 13, 2020. She was born December 20, 1926 in Caddo Valley, Arkansas to late Newton and Gladys Dodson Francis. She grew up in Caddo Valley with her sister, Molly Sue Frazier. Louise is also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Ledbetter; and sister, Molly Sue Frazier.
Somewhere in the process of growing up she met Thomas Ledbetter who turned out to be the love of her life. They married and began their journey in Compton, California. They soon relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa became their home for the rest of their lives.
Louise, to those who knew and loved her, retired from First National Bank after a 25-year career. Shortly after retirement she determined that she wasn't ready to be retired and went back to school to do what she loved most, teaching and working with children. This proved to be the greatest joy in her life.
Louise worked with children for over 20 years, including raising her grandson, Jeremy Wayne Ledbetter, who was the light of her life. Raising her grandson you could catch her in the front yard playing basketball with Jeremy and any other child in the neighborhood who wanted to play.
Nan had the biggest heart and was loved by all who knew her. Early in their time in Tulsa Tom and Louise belonged to Ridgeway Baptist Church before moving their membership to Belview Baptist Church in July of 1978. She would maintain her commitment to and membership at Belview for the rest of her life.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Karla Sue Ledbetter; grandchildren: Jeremy Ledbetter (Susan), Misty Sue Cummisky, and Chance Thomas Cummisky; and great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Rayne Ledbetter, Jeremy Wayne Ledbetter, Jr., and Jaelynn Nicole Ledbetter.
