She was born August 27, 1918 at the family home in Sunflower, Mississippi to Richard Creed Fox Jr. and Frances (Gillespie) Fox. At eighteen months old Frances’ mother died giving childbirth and little Frances was cared for  by both the Fox and Gillespie grandparents. Frances spent many happy days living with her grandparents. When Frances was seven years old, her father remarried. Frances stepmother was Montyne Moody of Clarksdale, Mississippi. She became a loving and caring mother for Frances and her two brothers, George, and Dick, were joined by three more siblings, Allen, Ellen, and Douglas Fox.

Frances spent her time raising the two children, being a Sunday School teacher and active in the children’s school as a home room mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Frank Harrison “Buck” Ming; and her siblings.
