Doris Faye Ross, 76, of Arkadelphia, formerly of Malvern, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2017 at Encore Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Malvern. She was born on Oct. 15, 1940, to Homer and Vangie Shepherd Buck of the Fendley Community in Clark County. She was a 1958 graduate of Amity High School and was a Methodist.
Doris was a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who loved sewing and cooking for family and friends. She worked part time as a clerk in the HSC Tax Assessor's office and as a sales clerk at West's department store. Later, she went to work full-time for Walmart, working as an associate in the fabric department at the Arkadelphia and Malvern stores. As much as she loved working with fabrics and fellow crafters, she was happy to retire in 2007. She used her retirement to catch up on the many books she wanted to read, to make quilts for her children and grandchildren, and to stay abreast of political news.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Mary Ross, of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter and son-in-law, Ronna and Jim Pennington, of Arkadelphia; two granddaughters, Christina Ross of Douglas City, California, and Sydney Pennington of Arkadelphia; her sisters Jeane (Horace) Bell, Katie Wilson, and Glenda (Tim) Watson, all of Arkadelphia, and Jamie Shaw of Bryant; and nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 30, 2017, 2 to 4 p.m. at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
