Donald Nathan Quinney Jr

Donald Nathan Quinney, Jr., 72, died in his home on June 13, 2019 in Arkadelphia, AR with his beloved wife Barbara, by his side.

Many knew him as “Donnie,” others called him “Junior.” He was born on December 20, 1946, in Nixon, TX, to his parents, Donald Nathan, Sr. and Ima Jean McGlothing Quinney. Donnie was the oldest of four and adored by his three sisters Donna, Dot and Denise.

After graduating from Nixon High School in 1965, he joined the Navy and served tours in Korea and Vietnam on the USS Constellation. During those tours, Donnie received several medals including the Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea).

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Donnie worked in the oil industry which took him all over the United States, and ultimately brought him to Arkansas where he met his wife-to-be and her two daughters, Kim and Rhonda. Donnie and Barbara married in 1978 and then soon welcomed their daughter, Cindy, in 1979.

In the early 1980s, Donnie began working in the logging industry, and eventually started his own business, Quinney Logging, from which he retired in 2007.

Donnie enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and Trinity Hunting Club.

Donnie is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Fulmer Quinney, his daughters Kim Hamme Morrison of Arkadelphia, AR, Rhonda Hamme Rutherford (Scotty) of Caddo Valley, AR, and Cindy Quinney Webb (Evan) of Benton, AR; His sisters Donna Quinney of Kingsbury, TX, Dot Dekle (Terry) of Luling, TX, and Denise Mills of Lockhart, TX; His grandchildren Chance Rutherford, Jacob Stewart (Jordan), Heather Stewart, Cameron Webb and Nathan Webb; His great grandchildren Jadan Stewart and Jackson Stewart; many nieces, nephews; and his good friends Mike and Connie Loy, and Larry McClain.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 16, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 17, 2019 10:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Marvin Pate and Brother James Taylor officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers; Arvilee Fulmer, Troy Fulmer, Brad Fulmer, Jeremy Arndt, Jacob Stewart, and Kaylum Brzozowski. Honary Pallbearers; Elijah Ardnt, Larry McClain, Mike Loy and the Trinity Hunting Club.
